A Thing
I Cannot Name
Three women. All different. Connected only by the intensity of their wildly dissimilar desires.
Unrequited love for an aloof, narcissistic older woman . . . an obsession with a partner’s former lover, intense enough to verge into the erotic . . . a yearning to bear a child, to create a companion and break out of a painful seclusion. Through their letters, their voices join each other across time, in an attempt to give name to their desires.

“Nolan’s raw and uncannily insightful writing glimmers in a way that will shed new light onto wounds both healed and open . . . She tells the truth about obsession and drains it of all allure” - New York Times
“Amanda Feery’s 'It’s in the trees, it’s coming', inspired by Kate Bush’s 'Hounds of Love', was the richest discovery of Crash Ensemble’s Free State 12 programme” - The Irish Times
