In 2027 INO will present an operatic performance that aims to create a hybrid XR experience for in-person and remote audiences. In-person audiences will be able to experience remote performances on stage in real time through holographic rendering. These remote performances will form an integral part of the staging of the scene, performing and interacting in real time. Remote audiences will be immersed within hyper-realistic omnidirectional and navigable 3D spaces which replicate the live performance environment. They will get to experience the performance in real time and will have the ability to communicate with other audience members about the performance. The project will work with technologies such as point cloud/holographic imaging, multi-sensorial media and Social VR in a multi-user, feedback-enabled communication system.
The consortium brings together 15 organisations from across Europe including technical partners, academic institutions and cultural organisations. You can read more about the consortium here.
