Wexford soprano Kelli-Ann Masterson is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (BMus.Ed.) and TU Dublin, formerly DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama (MMus). She was a member of INO’s ABL Aviation Opera Studio 2019-21 and a member of Northern Ireland Opera Studio 2018-19. Recent engagements with Irish National Opera include Irene Buckley’s Ghost Apples for the company’s critically acclaimed 20 Shots of Opera and guest soloist in a Mezzo Masterpieces concert at Castletown House. She made her Wexford Festival Opera debut in 2019 as La Fée in a ShortWorks production of Viardot’s Cendrillon and received both the PwC Wexford Festival Opera Emerging Young Artist Bursary and the Liam Healy Bursary. A month earlier she had created the role of Donal O’Dare in the premiere of Raymond Deane’s Vagabones with Opera Collective Ireland. And in the same year she won first prize in the Dramatic Cup and Margaret and Tony Quigley Awards at Feis Ceoil and was selected as a Rising Star by UCH Limerick. Other notable roles include Vespetta in the Irish premiere of Telemann’s Pimpinone at Killaloe Chamber Music Festival under INO Artistic Partner Peter Whelan, Chloé in Offenbach’s Daphnis et Chloé (Northern Ireland Opera), Edith in Gibert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance (Cork Opera House), Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Clyde Opera Group, Glasgow), Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Lyric Opera Studio Weimar) and Daniel in a staged portrayal of Handel’s Susanna (TU Dublin).
