Ino Opera Studio 2022/23

Eight new artists have joined INO Studio 2022-23, Irish National Opera’s studio mentoring programme.

The new intake includes Madeline Judge (mezzo), Kathleen Nic Dhiarmada (soprano), Jade Phoenix (soprano), Eoin Foran (baritone), Chris Kelly (director), Éna Brennan (composer), Medb Brereton-Hurley (conductor) and Katie O’Halloran (director).

INO studio and outreach producer James Bingham says “We’ve a wonderful group of artists with such rich potential on the programme this year and I’m absolutely delighted to be working with such talent. As the studio enters its fifth year, it’s also been great to see so many of our alumni move forward with their careers both abroad, as well as taking lead roles in INO productions. It’s proof of how valuable these emerging artist programmes can be.”

Studio members will benefit from masterclasses individual coaching and mentorship with leading Irish and international singers and musicians.

Members of INO Studio are also involved in Irish National Opera’s productions, both main-scale and touring. They sing onstage in roles or in the chorus, understudy lead roles – enabling them to watch and emulate great artists at work – and, for non-singing members, they join in the world of opera rehearsals as assistants. Many alumni of the INO Opera Studio have gone on to work in opera houses and studios internationally.

In addition to the main stage opportunities, studio artists also have the chance to take part in bespoke activity. The INO Studio will programme concerts, produce new works and run outreach activity with its studio participants. This intensive programme is the perfect opportunity for studio artists to fully immerse themselves, developing the skills required to work in a professional opera company.
