As part of our forthcoming tour of Werther, INO has been working with select venues and community partners to get their creative ideas on the story of Massenet's opera.

In Letterkenny, writer K.M.L. Quinn has been working with students from St Eunan’s College and Loreto Secondary School to produce poetry inspired by the themes of Werther. The poems will be published into an anthology and shared with audiences on our tour.

In Dundalk, members of M.A.D. Youth Theatre and Dundalk Youth Centre have been writing songs inspired by the themes of Werther, which they will perform in the foyer, prior to the performance at An Táin Arts Centre.

In Ennis, members of the Clare Youth Theatre met with the director of Werther, Sophie Motley, to learn about the opera and her process. Following this, they devised a theatre piece inspired by the opera’s story, which they will perform in the foyer of glór, before the performance.

In Cork, local hip-hop group, the Kabin Crew will give a performance in the foyer of The Everyman. Having met with Sophie Motley, they have devised their piece, inspired by Werther.

All participants taking part in these projects are attending the touring performance in their area. If you are planning to attend a touring performance of Werther, be sure to catch one of these pre-show performances!
