Turandot

An epic tale of love, courage and redemption. Puccini’s high-octane opera Turandot stars world-class sopranos Sinéad Campbell Wallace (Princess Turandot) and Celine Byrne (Liù).

The icy princess Turandot sets her suitor, tenor Young Woo Kim (Calaf), an impossible task: he must solve her three riddles or face death. Liù, his devoted servant is prepared to sacrifice herself to protect him.

Featuring the iconic aria “Nessun dorma”, Turandot is conducted by Valerio Galli, directed by David McVicar and culminates in an unforgettable finale that delivers Puccini’s score in all its splendour.

The stellar cast includes bass Insung Sim (Timur), bartone Hansung Yoo (Ping), tenors Andrew Masterson (Pang), Aaron O’Hare (Pong) and Eamonn Mulhall (Emperor Altoum) and bass John Molloy (Mandarin). Turandot showcases the full power of the Irish National Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

Turandot set design is by Charles Edwards, with costume design by Doey Lüthi, lighting design by Ben Pickersgill and choreography by Gareth Mole

Turandot is sung in Italian with English surtitles.
