Out of the Ordinary / Culture Night
Experience Irish National Opera’s Out of the Ordinary/As an nGnách, the world’s first virtual reality community opera at The Dock, Accenture’s global R&D and innovation centre for Culture Night 2024.
SOLD OUT & WAITING LIST FULL
This groundbreaking VR Community Opera was developed for and with people living across Ireland.
Out of the Ordinary/As an nGnách tells the tale of a community forced to flee their barren homeland, which, due to their own actions, can no longer sustain them. Nalva, our main character, builds a boat to take her people on an epic journey to find a new home.
We will bring you to an imagined, animated world, creating a truly unique experience where you will have the ability to move around and interact with the environment. Written by composer Finola Merivale and librettist Jody O’Neill, working with director Jo Mangan and students from rural Ireland and communities from Inis Meáin, Tallaght and South Dublin.
A world of opera you can carry around in your head, presented in a space that cultivates innovation.
Due to the nature of VR, this experience will be unsuitable for audience members who are under 14, are pregnant, are prone to seizures, fits or epilepsy, are fitted with a pacemaker, are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or have a serious medical condition that affects their balance or vision.
