Kabin Crew Live: The Sound Of The Northside
with INO Orchestra
The Kabin Studio and the INO Orchestra are joining forces once again for a fresh, unplugged version of The Sound of the Northside.
After the first edition sold out The Everyman Theatre in July 2024, we’re coming back with no backing tracks - just live voices, orchestral instruments and the raw energy that has grown inside the Kabin community.
This production is a mix of rap, spoken word and singing from young people and adults from Knocknaheeny and beyond with full live orchestral accompaniment. It was co-created with the community from the start, drawing on real stories, humour, and the pulse of the Northside to build something genuine and full of life.
It’s going to feel like a gig, a proper celebration of the journey the young creatives at the Kabin have been on. The Kabin’s viral smash hit The Spark, with over 50 million streams and long-listed for Grammys in two categories, has shown the world what the Kabin can do. (Hotpress Article). Meanwhile the first Sound of the Northside show won the international YAM Award in the Best Participatory Project category in 2025, recognising the bold partnership with Irish National Opera.
The Musicians & Educators at The Kabin have been working closely with the young people for years - helping them write, record and shape their music into the stage-ready form you’ll see on the night. The show is directed by One Two One Two (Maud Lee & Zoe Ní Riordáin) with arrangements by Áine Delaney, bringing the Kabin’s own tracks into a full live ensemble setting.
On the night expect around twenty original tracks, created by young people at the Kabin. You’ll hear rap, dance, drum & bass, pop, soul and R&B, performed by the artists themselves, backed by orchestra, and led by voices like Kabin Crew, Misneach, Tiny, Jamie the King, Eibhlín Ní Mháirtín, Luke Origins, Bucky, Sparky and others.
This performance is a proud celebration of what it means to be a young creative on the Northside—of where you’re from, who you are, and the stories you carry. Join us on Friday 12 December, in the Curtis Auditorium at the MTU School of Music, Cork City, for a night of sound, story and community.
