Così fan tutte
Mozart’s questionable tale of sexual manipulation and forced double infidelity comes with one of his richest and most sublime scores.
Fiordiligi and Dorabella, two sisters. Guglielmo and Ferrando, their lovers. And the cynical Don Alfonso, who sets up a test of the sisters’ faithfulness while staking money with the men about their fickleness. There’s sharp comedy and heartfelt music in the swings of the partner-changing flings that follow, as everyone is left humbled and wiser.
Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
Running time: 3 hours including one interval
