The Abduction from the Seraglio

The Abduction from the Seraglio was one of Mozart’s most successful operas during the composer’s lifetime.

The work explores conflicts between nationalities and cultures with the lightest and most sophisticated of touches. The exotically colourful score includes some of Mozart’s most brilliant, extreme and virtuosic arias.

Soprano Claudia Boyle, who has been praised for her “stupendous coloratura sophistication and radiance” (Neue Musikzeitung), will sing Konstanze. The “stylish” (The Irish Times) tenor Dean Power sings Belmonte, with soprano Sarah Power as Blonde, tenor Andrew Gavin as Pedrillo and Jonathan Lemalu bass as Osmin.

INO Artistic Partner Peter Whelan conducts the Irish National Opera Chorus and the Irish Chamber Orchestra in a series of digital and in person concert performances.
