Vacancy | Studio & Outreach Executive (Maternity Cover)
Irish National Opera is seeking a motivated and energetic individual to join the company as Studio & Outreach Executive. This position is offered as a ten-month full-time contract from August 2024 as a maternity cover. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Ireland's largest and most dynamic arts organisations and to gain experience in arts management and the opera sector.
The Studio & Outreach Executive will support and contribute to all activities undertaken as part of the Irish National Opera Studio programme. The INO Studio is key to delivering a core aspect of INO’s mission, the development of operatic talent. The studio is the company’s artistic development programme and generally accepts eight participants per season (singers, conductors, composers, répétiteurs and directors). The Studio & Outreach Executive will serve as principal liaison to Studio artists, participating mentors and coaches and will co-ordinate Studio activities.
The Studio & Outreach Executive will also support and contribute to the company's outreach, education and participation activities. Irish National Opera passionately believes that opera is for everyone and regularly engages with school, youth and other community groups to explore the world of opera. This work includes school workshops, talks, the 'Sing!' and 'Open Foyer' series as well as special once-off projects.
The Studio & Outreach Executive will report to and work closesly with the Studio & Outreach Producer and also interact with all departments as necessary. This role is ideal for individuals who wish to develop skills and gain experience in arts management and the opera sector.
Job Description
Reporting to the Studio & Outreach Producer, the primary functions of the Studio & Outreach Executive are to: (1) assist the Studio & Outreach in delivering the INO Studio programme (2) assist in delivering and contribute to the company's outreach, education and participation activities (3) support the work of the company as required.
The Studio & Outreach Executive will be based at the company's office at 69 Dame Street, Dublin 2. Some off-site work and some work on weekends and evenings will be required from to time. The company offers time off in lieu for hours worked outside normal office hours. The company will offer a competitive salary for this position and 20 days' annual leave (pro rata) in addition to statuory bank holidays.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who enjoys working with people. They will have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintining a poisitive attidude. They will show talent and capacity for building and cultivating relationships with artists, key partners and stakeholders.
They will have a passion for the arts and a desire to contribute to the growth, development and success of Irish National Opera. Knowledge of opera or previous experience of working in opera in not required. However, willingness to learn about the opera sector is desirable.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 3 years working experience in the arts/related sector OR
- BA or higher degree in arts or related field
- Excellent organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Creative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit
- Personal accountability, high level of integrity, ability to work under pressure
