Irish National Opera is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to join the company as Marketing Executive. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Marketing Executive will play a key role in developing and implementing marketing & PR campaigns.

The role will be of interest to arts professionals who have a background and/or experience in marketing and who wish to be part of a growing team in one of Ireland’s largest and most dynamic artistic organisations.

General Marketing

  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing campaigns
  • Maintain and circulate sales reports
  • Assist in preparation and proofing of general marketing materials
  • Collate artist biographies and headshots, assist proofing programmes and season collateral
  • Secure sales of ads in programme books in line with agreed targets
  • Liaise with box office and marketing personnel in partner venues and partner organisations as necessary
  • Support regional marketing and advertising campaigns for INO touring productions and for Met Live in HD transmissions.
  • Build and monitor events in Spektrix as necessary
  • Send guest invitations and maintain RSVP list for opening nights and special events
  • Work at the INO guest desk and perform general Front of House for opening nights and for other performances as necessary


PR and Photocalls

  • Support regional press campaigns and create content for sponsored articles and advertorials for INO performances and Met Live in HD transmissions
  • Maintain public relations databases
  • Create press books and reports on press activity
  • Oversee rehearsal photography and photocalls as necessary
  • Assist at video shoots as needed

Audience Development

  • Build and maintain databases for youth and special interest groups nationwide
  • Design and disseminate surveys to determine customer preferences and satisfaction
  • Implement audience development campaigns

Website

  • Maintain artist biogs on website, updating as necessary in line with season and production announcements
  • In collaboration with the communications manager and digital communications executive assist on creating content for the website news section in line with wider content marketing strategy

Social Media

  • In collaboration with the communications manager and digital communications executive, assist on implementing the organic social media strategy across INO’s social media channels. Time in lieu is offered where agreed social media engagement takes place at weekend/holidays

Other duties

  • As appropriate, support the company’s activities in other departments
  • As appropriate, support the company’s outreach initiatives
  • Attend performances, press conferences and other events as necessary
  • Contribute ideas and analysis for the overall development of the company
  • Perform other duties that may be required by the company from time to time

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator. They will have a flair for language and the ability to think creatively. They will be able to manage numerous tasks and projects simultaneously with great attention to detail. They will show talent and capacity for devising and implementing marketing and social media campaigns.
The candidate will have a track record in working in marketing, advertising, or PR. They will have a passion for the arts and a desire to contribute to the growth, development and success of Irish National Opera. A knowledge of opera or the willingness to learn about the opera sector is essential.


Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in marketing, press, advertising or related sector
  • Outstanding oral and written language skills
  • Copywriting skills
  • Working knowledge of Adobe or Affinity desktop publishing programmes
  • Understanding of social media platforms
  • Technical skills to implement social media campaigns
  • Ability to generate creative content
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time
  • Strong interpersonal and stake-holder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Creative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Personal accountability, high level of integrity, ability to work under pressure
