INO is delighted to partner with RTÉ lyric fm to broadcast a selection of our recent operas on Opera Night with Paul Herriott, Saturdays in June and July at 7pm.

The season kicks off on 18 June with the Olivier Award winning production of Vivaldi's Bajazet, recorded at the Royal Opera House, London, last February. Enjoy the adrenalin rush of the instrumentally virtuosic vocal writing and show-stopping arias performed by a cast including Gianluca Margheri as Bajazet, countertenor Francesco Giusti singing Tamerlano, contralto Niamh O'Sullivan is Asteria, counterteno Eric Jurenas is the Greek prince Andronicus, Claire Booth sings the role of Irene, soprano Aoife Miskelly as Idaspe and the Irish Baroque Orchestra conducted by Peter Whelan in this Olivier Award winning production (winner of the Outstanding achievement in Opera).

Next up, last year's production of Beethoven's great freedom opera, Fidelio, starring Sinéad Campbell Wallace as Leonore, broadcasts on the 2 July. Conducted by Fergus Sheil, the cast also features tenor Robert Murray as Florestan, joined by Daniel Sumegi, Brian Mulligan, Kelli-Ann Masterson, Dean Power and David Howes. This production was recorded in November 2021 in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin.

Bizet's searing drama, Carmen, is broadcast on 9 July, featuring mezzo-soprano Paula Murrihy in the title role. She is joined by tenor Dinyar Vania, who sings the role of the hot-blooded Don José. Soprano Celine Byrne as Micaëla and bass Milan Siljanov as Escamillo round out the principal cast. The Irish National Opera orchestra and chorus is conducted by Kenneth Montgomery. Recorded at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in March 2022.
