Biography

Australian soprano Siobhan Stagg, making her debut with Irish National Opera, is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and Wales Academy of Voice. An ensemble member with Deutsche Oper Berlin from 2013-19, she sang such roles as Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Tytania in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen. She has appeared as Cendrillon in Massenet’s Cendrillon (Lyric Opera of Chicago), Pamina and Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (Royal. Ballet & Opera), Sophie in Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier (Opernhaus Zürich; Staatsoper Berlin), Mélisande in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande (Opéra de Dijon; Victorian Opera), Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata (NI Opera), Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Blonde in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Cordelia in Aribert Reimann’s Lear (Hamburgische Staatsoper). In 2025/26 she debuts as Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette (State Opera South Australia) and returns to Staatsoper Berlin as Antonia/ Stella in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann. Concert engagements include Poulenc’s Stabat Mater (RTVE Spain), Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs (Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège; Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano), Unsuk Chin’s Puzzles and Games (Staatskapelle Dresden), and Thomas Blomenkamp’s In Little Stars (Duisburger Symphoniker). She has also appeared with Orchestre National de Lyon (Poème de l’amour et de la mer), and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for Mozart’s Mass in C minor. Recital appearances include Berlin’s Kühlhaus and London’s Wigmore Hall. In 2023 she received the Key to the City of Mildura (Australia) and, as a Fellow of Trinity Lutheran College and Board Director of the Melba Opera Trust, actively supports young singers through various awards and initiatives.
