Biography

Sarah Jane is a lighting designer whose interest in light began as a member of Dublin Youth Theatre. She collaborates with a wide range of companies across theatre, dance, opera, and installation, and previous work with Irish National Opera includes Massenet’s Werther, Gounod’s Faust, Donizetti's L’elisir d’amore; Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (a co-production with Theatre Lovett and the Abbey Theatre) and Evangelia Rigaki’s This Hostel Life. Her upcoming work includes The Whiteheaded Boy at the Abbey Theatre.  Recent productions include Dénouement and Our New Girl (Lyric Theatre Belfast), The Mirror Stage (Brokentalkers), Octopus Children (THISISPOPBABY), and The Borrowers (Gate Theatre). Other work includes This Shit Happens All The Time (Lyric Theatre Belfast); Conversations After Sex (THISISPOPBABY); All the Angels (Rough Magic Theatre Company); Book of Names (ANU Productions); The Veiled Ones (Junk Ensemble); Galway International Arts Festival); and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings (Collapsing Horse). Sarah Jane holds a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies and an MSc in Interactive Digital Media from Trinity College Dublin. She was a participant on the Rough Magic SEEDS programme and is co-founder of WillFredd Theatre and the Irish Society of Performance Designers.
