Sarah Baxter
Biography
Sarah was a member of INO’s ABL Aviation Opera Studio from 2018 to 2020. In 2020 she directed Hannah Peel’s Close as part of INO’s much-praised 20 Shots of Opera project. In 2019 she directed and co-wrote INO’s The Deadly World of Opera, which was presented as part of Musictown Festival and she was also assistant director for several INO productions during her time with ABL Aviation Opera Studio. In theatre, she recently directed and co-created (with Alice Malseed) Anthem, which had a sell out run in Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Belfast, in 2021. Her work as director/co-creator includes: with Alice Malseed, it’s getting harder and harder for me (Dublin Fringe 2017/MAC, Belfast 2018) and Jellyfish (Dublin Fringe 2015/UK tour 2016), and with Niamh Shaw, Diary of a Martian Beekeeper (Cork, 2017/Dublin, 2018).Other director credits include: Personal Space Vol II (Smock Alley), 24HourPlaysDublin 2018 (Dublin Youth Theatre/Abbey Theatre), Dubliners Women (Witchwork Theatre Company); These Stupid Things, and Taboo (White Label), The Roaring Banshees, The Hellfire Squad and Vehicle (Devious Theatre), and To Space (Niamh Shaw). Sarah’s work has toured throughout Ireland, UK and internationally. She was the recipient of Druid Theatre’s Marie Mullen Bursary 2020–2021. She is an associate artist with Once Off Productions. She trained in devised and physical theatre at London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA).
