Biography

Salome Jicia was born in Georgia where she studied singing and piano. This is her first appearance with Irish National Opera. She continued her education at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Renata Scotto and at the Rossini Opera Festival Academy in Pesaro with Alberto Zedda. She has won several international competitions, including the Lado Ataneli Competition (2012) and the Stanisław Moniuszko Competition in Warsaw (2016), where she also received the Maria Fołtyn Prize. She has performed on the stages of some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opéra de Lausanne, Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Tbilisi Opera, collaborating with leading conductors such as Michele Mariotti, Francesco Lanzillotta, Fabio Luisi, Riccardo Frizza, and with renowned directors including Damiano Michieletto, Davide Livermore, and David McVicar. Highlights of the 2025-26 season include: Verdi’s Il trovatore (Leonora) at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona; Verdi’s Falstaff (Alice) at the Opéra de Marseille; Mozart’s Idomeneo (Elettra) at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda (Elisabetta) at the Hamburgische Staatsoper.
