Ronan Khalil
Biography
Born in Rennes, Ronan Khalil first started music as a boy alto at the Maitrise de Bretagne. He then studied singing with Christian Immler at the Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and Peter Kooij at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague. Alongside his voice studies, he trained as a harpsichordist with Elisabeth Joyé (Paris), Olivier Baumont (Paris), Fabio Bonizzoni (The Hague) and Christophe Rousset (Sienna). After graduated from Paris Conservatory, he was selected in many academies such as French Baroque Youth Orchestra (Christophe Rousset), Ambronay (Sigiswald Kuijken) and Aix-en-Provence (William Christie). He was also awarded first prize and prize of the public at the Fondation Marcelle et Robert Delacour's competition, first prize in Bologna, Oriolis-Kriegelstein prize at Paris Conservatory and prize of the public at the Westfield competition in Washington (USA).
Ronan is now a permanent member of the Ensemble Pygmalion (Raphaël Pichon) and works regularly with Les Siècles (François Xavier Roth) and Ensemble Correspondances (Sébastien Daucé). He is the artistic director of the collectif ActeSix, the record label Oktav Records and the festival Les Moments Musicaux de Gerberoy.
In July 2023, Ronan will create a contemporary opera by Juan Pablo Carreno at Teatro Mayor in Bogota, he will play pianoforte in many Mozart productions such as Le Nozze di Figaro (Boston), Don Giovanni(Versailles), La Clemenza di Tito (Aix-en-Provence) and will assist Raphaël Pichon in the world premiere of Samson/Rameau at Aix-en-Provence festival as well as Lacrime di Eros at Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam. In December 2023, he will be joining world famous Iranian singer Sami Yusuf onstage for 2 concerts at the Paris Philharmonie.
