Biography

Born in Grimsby, UK, Rachael trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She made her Irish National Opera debut in 2025 directing Wagner's The Flying Dutchman. She has also worked at Theater Basel, Glyndebourne, Aldeburgh Festival, Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofia Valencia, Royal Academy of Music, English National Opera, The Metropolitan Opera, Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Bergen National Opera, Royal Ballet & Opera, Opera Holland Park, Garsington Opera, Royal College of Music, National Opera Studio, Sadler’s Wells, on London’s West End, The Royal Shakespeare Company as well as extensive television/film work, including with the BBC, ITV and Sky. She founded VOPERA - The Virtual Opera Project in 2020, and directed Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges on film, which won the South Bank Sky Arts Award for Opera, and the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Opera and Music Theatre. In 2018 Rachael also won the Special Prize at the IV International Competition for Young Opera Directors in Moscow.
