Biography

The young tenor Merūnas Vitulskis was born in Kaunas, Lithuania. Current projects include Pinkerton at Staatstheater Kassel and future engagements include the same role at Lithuanian National Opera as well as his debut as Cavaradossi. During recent seasons has performed Pinkerton and Alfredo at the Lithuanian National Opera as well as Pinkerton at Opera North- Leeds and at Opera de Lille, Luxembourg and Klagenfurt, as well as at Opera de Oviedo and Alfredo at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

In 2013-2014 he performed the parts of Alfredo at ABAO Bilbao opera under the baton of Kery-Lynn Wilson, and has been high celebrated for his Rodolfo debut at St Margarethen Summer Festival (new Boheme production of Robert Dornhelm), Macduff at Theater Klagenfurt, Alfredo at Teatro Verdi Trieste, Rodolfo at Oper Graz and Aalto Theater Essen.

In 2010 Merūnas Vitulskis started as soloist at the Lithuanian National Opera singing the parts of Sir Hervey/Anna Bolena, Lensky/Onegin, Nemorino/Elisir d´Amore, Duca/Rigoletto, Alfredo/Traviata.

Vitulskis graduated from Kaunas Vaizganto high school. He already began to sing in the seventh grade, encouraged by music teacher Giedre Druskienės. He deepened later his musical skills at Gruodis Conservatory. From 2004-2006 he continued his studies and graduated at the Music Academy with the vocal teacher Ohn Antanavicius.

In 2006 the young tenor participated in the music reality show Road to 2 stars and won first prize. At the same time he was training to become an opera singer at the Music Academy with professor Vytautas Juozapaitis . In 2009 he started singing classes with tenor Professor V.Noreika. Vitulskis achieved his Bachelor of vocal studies in 2010 and continued vocal training at the Music Academy until his graduation.

He has been invited to perform in numerous festivals including: National Progress Prize ceremony in 2007 (with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra ), XII and XIV Pažaislis Music Festival (Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra), Druskininkai Theatre Festival, Lithuanian Independence of the 90th anniversary commemoration of Latvian national Opera, International Tytuvėnai summer festival (with St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra), International Michael Oginsky Festival (with Michael Oginsky Festival Symphony Orchestra), 75-year anniversary of the Lithuanian National Opera (with the State Orchestra Brass "trumpet"), Operetta Festival in Kaunas Castle in 2009, St Moritz Summer festival 2011 and others.
