Matt is based in London and works internationally. He designed the lighting for The Royal Opera House world premiere of the opera Coraline. Matt was the Associate Lighting Designer for The Master and Margarita (Complicite) and Concert Lighting Designer for Grace Jones (Royal Albert Hall).

His opera work includes La Cenerentola (Irish National Opera); The Snowmaiden; Hansel & Gretel; La Cenerentola, La Traviata, Don Giovanni, Turn of the Screw and Cautionary Tales (Opera North); Coraline (ROH, European Tour); Romeo et Juliette, Der fliegende Hollander (Estonian National Opera); Wuthering Heights (Opera National Lorraine); A Quiet Place (Opera Zuid); Sukanya (ROH/Royal Festival Hall); The Commission/Café Kafka, Glare, The Virtues of Things (Linbury Theatre, ROH); Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda (WNO); Roberto Devereux (WNO/Teatro Real Madrid); Albert Herring (Maggio Musicale, Florence); Dialogues des Carmelites, Cendrillon (RNCM).
