Mark Nathan

British baritone Mark Nathan is a graduate of Birmingham University, the Royal College of Music, and the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; he is also a former member of Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artists programme. His recent and future highlights include Schaunard in Puccini’s La bohème, Maximillian in Bernstein’s Candide for Welsh National Opera; the Notary in Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier for Irish National Opera; Giuseppe in Sullivan’s The Gondoliers, Mr Goldbury in Sullivan’s Utopia Ltd for Scottish Opera; and the Hunter in Dvořák’s Rusalka, and Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte for Garsington Opera. In 2019, while at the at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he sang the role of Joseph de Rocher in the UK stage premiere of Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, for which he received outstanding critical acclaim. He went on to cover the role for both Welsh National Opera and the Israeli Opera.
