Biography

Maksym is a member of the Irish National Opera company chorus, appearing in Gounod’s Faust, Puccini’s La bohème, Verdi’s La traviata, Verdi’s Rigoletto, Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. A graduate of Kherson State University (Faculty of Vocal and Choral Studies), Maksym began his career with the Kherson Philharmonic as a bass soloist, performing works such as Boito’s Mephistofele, and the role of Karas in Artemovsky’s Zaporozhets za Dunayem. He continues to refine his vocal skills with teacher Mauro Augustini. He won second prize at international competitions in Rimini, Italy, and received a special award at the M. Magomayev International Competition in Truskavets, Ukraine. Committed to the cultural life of his hometown, Kherson, he organises opera concerts and festivals, including an international opera festival on the Dnipro River featuring soloists from Georgia, Italy, and Ukraine, with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra. He performs with the folk orchestra Arkadia, touring southern Ukraine and offering audiences a unique experience: Verdi arias performed with a folk ensemble. In Ireland, he has received Individual Artist Project funding from the Carlow County Council Arts Office, and organised concerts in Carlow. In 2025, he was awarded the Order of Prince Vladimir, Third Class, for providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Kherson, which continues to su!er from Russian aggression.
