Polish bass Lukas Jakobski studied at the Royal College of Music, and was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where his roles included Angelotti in Puccini’s Tosca and Pietro in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, and Il re in Verdi’s Aida. He has returned to Covent Garden to sing Greek Captain in Berlioz’s Les Troyens, Don Profondo in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, Pistol in Verdi’s Falstaff and, most recently, Dr Grenvil in Verdi’s La traviata. Elsewhere, he has performed with Classical Opera, Glyndebourne Tour, Grange Park Opera, Opéra de Lyon, Dutch National Opera, Nederlandse Reisopera, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Polish National Opera and Theater an der Wien. Concert engagements have included performances with the Academy of Ancient Music, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Irish Baroque Orchestra, Kymi Sinfonietta and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. His engagements in the 2021-22 season included Hobson in Britten’s Peter Grimes at Theater an der Wien and stage debut at Polish National Opera as Montio in Jarecki’s Barbara Radziwiłłówna. He made his INO debut in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in 2019.
