Katie Davenport

Biography

Katie is a set and costume designer based in Dublin. She represented Ireland at The Prague Quadrennial in 2019, a world exhibition of theatre design, presenting a digital render of the set design for INO’s The Tales of Hoffmann.

In addition to 20 Shots of Opera for Irish National Opera in 2020, Katie has previously designed Griselda (set and costume); The Tales of Hoffmann (Nominated for an Irish Times Theatre Award, set and costume); and The Magic Flute (costume).

She has designed for many of the major theatre, dance and opera companies in Ireland, including The Abbey, The Gate, Irish National Opera, Landmark Productions, United Fall, Northern Irish Opera, thisispopbaby and Rough Magic. She has associated at St Ann’s Warehouse (New York) and The Barbican (London). She has also worked in the art departments of Ardmore studios, RTÉ and won an Institute of Creative Advertising and Design Award for Piranha Bar in 2016.

Katie is Vice Chair of the Irish Society of Stage & Screen Designers and was Designer in Residence at The Gate Theatre Dublin in 2017. She recently participated in a cross disciplinary group curated by Irish Museum of Modern Art and Project Arts centre, Studio Interruptions in 2020.
