Mexican tenor Jesús León was a student of the UCLA Opera Studio, the Solti Accademia di Bel Canto, the Boston University Opera Institute and the Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program at Los Angeles Opera. In Italy he trained under the guidance of the legendary soprano Mirella Freni. His repertoire includes works by Bellini, Donizetti, Puccini, Rossini, Verdi, Mozart, Bizet, Gounod and Offenbach. On the most important stages worldwide he has sung roles such as Pâris in Offenbach’s La belle Hélène (Théatre du Chatelet, Paris), Nadir in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de perles (Florence Opera and Korea National Opera), Romeo in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette (Opéra de Nice, Graz Opera, The Atlanta Opera, Royal Opera House Muscat), Elvino in Bellini’s La sonnambula (Stuttgart State Opera, Teatro Massimo Bellini, Catania, Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni), Il Duca di Mantova in Verdi’s Rigoletto (Opéra de Nice, Lyric Opera San Francisco), Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata (Minnesota Opera, Scottish Opera, Opéra de Dijon). Recent highlights include Romeo in Roméo et Juliette at the Opéra Comique in Paris, Elvino in La sonnambula and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Ópera de Bellas Artes de México and Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco at the Opéra de Nice and the Opéra de Toulon. He has appeared in concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Verdi in Milan and the Orquestra Sinfonica de Mineria, in London at the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican and Wigmore Hall, and at Birmingham Symphony Hall.
