Francis O’Connor

Biography

Francis has designed numerous opera and theatre productions throughout the world. In Ireland he has a long association with Druid Theatre and Garry Hynes and their work extends from the original Beauty Queen of Leenane to Druid Synge and Druid Shakespeare.He has also designed numerous productions for the Abbey and the Gate in Dublin and RSC and National Theatre in the UK. He is a regular designer at Garsington and Grange Park Opera Festivals, including Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Maid of Pskov, this season at Grange.Recent projects include Janáček’s Šárka at TOBS in Switzerland, the reopening of the Chatelet in Paris with Satie’s Parade, and Weill’s Street Scene with Opera North.He was honoured to have his work represent Irish Theatre at Prague Quadrennial Fragments exhibition. He made his INO debut in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in 2018.
