Ella Nagy

Biography

Ella Nagy is an Irish–Hungarian collaborative pianist. She is the winner of the Maura Dowdall Concerto Competition and the Royal Irish Academy of Music Chamber Festival Dublin Prize, as well as the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival | John Pollard Bursary, making her the first instrumentalist to receive the award. She appeared at the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and in 2026 was selected for the Wexford Festival Opera's Young Artist Programme.  

Ella holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in solo piano performance from the Royal Irish Academy of Music and she completed the Collaborative Piano Fellowship at Bard College Conservatory in New York in 2026. In 2024 she joined the Irish National Opera Studio, participating in masterclasses, performances, and full-scale opera productions, and performing continuo fortepiano on a national tour of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore under Erina Yashima. She has performed in venues including Dublin’s National Concert Hall, where her performance of Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra received a standing ovation. Her international engagements include the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and venues across  Denmark, Portugal, the UK, New York City, and Florida. Her performances have been broadcast by RTÉ Lyric FM, Dublin South FM, and BBC Radio Ulster. 

In 2026, Ella was selected as an adjudicator for the San Francisco Conservatory’s Pankonin Composer Competition. She is featured on composer Jonathan Nangle’s album Surface Patterns, performing the title work for solo piano and collaborating on the song cycle titled Snáth.
