Biography
With a voice combining power and beauty, Dinyar Vania has earned critical acclaim in the United States and Europe portraying several of the most beloved roles in opera. He has performed as Don José in Bizet’s Carmen with Virginia Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Greensboro Opera, Opera Coeur d’Alene, and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca with The Dallas Opera, Utah Opera, Opera Grand Rapids, Piedmont Opera, Opera Roanoke, and Lyric Opera Baltimore; Lieutenant Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Colorado, Boston Lyric Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and Syracuse Opera; Dick Johnson in Puccini’s La fanciulla del West with Opera Omaha; Des Grieux in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut with Minnesota Opera; Roberto in Puccini’s Le Villi with Spoleto Festival USA; the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto with Opera Omaha, Opera Grand Rapids, and Knoxville Opera; Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata with Opera Roanoke and Opera Cleveland; Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème with Pensacola Opera, Opera Birmingham, Dayton Opera, and New York City Opera; Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana with Utica Symphony Orchestra; Ovidio in Jorge Martín’s Before Night Falls with Florida Grand Opera; and Ettore in the world premiere of Kimmo Hakola’s La Fenice with Savonlinna Opera Festival. His concert highlights include Verdi’s Requiem with Asheville Symphony Orchestra, an opera gala concert with the Seattle Symphony, and his Carnegie Hall debut as soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Symphony.
