Anna-Helena MacLachlan

Biography

Anna-Helena MacLachlan is a mezzo-soprano from Westmeath, Ireland. For the 2026/2027 season, Anna-Helena will be performing the role of Mercedes as well as covering the title role in Bizet’s Carmen. She will also cover the role of Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. Alongside this, Anna-Helena will perform the role of Lady Bertram in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park with Opera Collective Ireland in September, she also holds the position of Affilate Artist at Mascarade Opera. During the 2025/2026 season she was an emerging artist with Mascarade Opera in Florence, Italy where she worked with conductors Wyn Davies and Danila Grassi. Prior to this, she graduated from Royal Academy Opera in London, where she performed roles such as Hansel in Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel, Dritte Damen in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Philomene in Martinu’s Twice Alexander, and Mrs. Herring in Britten’s Albert Herring. Other roles include Isabella in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri with Wexford Festival Opera, Melibea in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Riems with Rossini Opera Festival and Melissa in F. Caccini’s La Liberazione di Ruggiero. 

Anna-Helena also has a passion for oratorio and has been fortunate to perform as alto soloist for Handel’s Messiah, Hayden’s Nelson Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Vaughan Williams Mass in G minor, Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo and Karl Jenkin’s The Armed Man. 

Anna-Helena was awarded the Black Water Valley Opera Festival’s Bursary for 2024. Prior to this, she has won awards including Young Opera Voice from Navan Festival and the Veronica Dunne Bursary for Young Irish Singers.
