Biography

Amelia Scott is a Canadian video designer working in theatre, opera, dance, live music, and beyond. This is her first time working with Irish National Opera. Her focus is on visual storytelling, using animation, film, video, and live cameras to implement nuanced integration of video and projections into live performances. She creates emotional atmospheres, poetic textures, morphing scenography, and editorial interventions. Amelia is also an instructor of Video Technology and Design at the National Theatre School of Canada (a position she has held since 2017) and has been a guest lecturer at Concordia University, Montreal. Notable collaborations include: Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra); Die Versammlung (Munich Kammerspiel); Dans les Nuages (Festival Trans Amériques); My Name Is Lucy Barton (Canadian Stage); Projet Polytechnique (Théâtre du Nouveau Monde); The Assembly, Project Polytechnique (Porte Parole); The Masterplan, Stars: Together, Towards Youth (Crow’s Theatre); Speculation (Ottawa Chamber Festival); Kauno Asamblėja (National Kaunas Drama Theatre); Si Jamais Vous Nous Écoutez (Théatre Denise-Pelletier); First Métis Man of Odesa, Takwahiminana (Punctuate! Theatre); Alina, Kohkom's Babushka (Pyretic Theatre); The Mountaintop, and Disney's Frozen (The Citadel Theatre). Her other collaborations with Netia Jones include: An Anatomy of Melancholy (The Barbican Centre, London); Electric Fields (Los Angeles Philharmonic); Debussy's Pelléas et Mélesande (Santa Fe Opera); and Verdi's Macbeth (New Zealand Opera).
