American-Venezuelan soprano Amber Norelai makes her debut with Irish National Opera with this role. This season also sees her making debuts with Bayerische Staatsoper, as Hase in Richard Whilds’ Der Mondbär, and the Sag Harbor Song Festival in New York. In 2024-25, she appeared as Madama Cortese in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims at Salzburger Landestheater, Amore in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice with The Dallas Opera, and Forest Bird in Wagner’s Siegfried with The Atlanta Opera. Recent highlights include Dayton Opera’s season-opening gala, New Year’s concerts in Wrocław, and a return to Santa Fe Opera as Euridice in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. A 2023 Benenson Young Artist at Palm Beach Opera, she covered Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, which she also covered at Santa Fe Opera in 2022. In concert, she has sung Mahler’s Das himmlische Leben with the Wiener Akademische Philharmonie at Musikverein Wein, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Webern Kammerphilharmonie at Schlosstheater Schönbrunn.
Amber holds degrees from the University of Oklahoma and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. She is a 2023 Metropolitan Opera National Council District Winner and winner of the 14th International Vocal Competition “Giovani Musicisti.”
