The Deadly World of Opera

Explore The Deadly World of Opera with our free introduction to this amazing art form.

Why do opera singers make such an unusual sound?

What exactly is an aria?

Can I clap at an opera?

Why does everyone sing in Italian?

What’s Pavarotti’s deal?

Does the seminal 1975 album ‘A Night at the Opera’ by Queen have anything to do with actual opera?

Join Irish National Opera in this free performance as we introduce you to a truly amazing art form. Over the course of an hour, artists from the INO studio will perform operatic music spanning several hundred years as well as guide us through some of the curious terminology and traditions. Absolutely no prior experience of opera is needed, just a willingness to try something different!

Duration: 1 hour

The Deadly World of Opera is part of Music Town Festival, and is supported by Fedora, Creative Europe and Dublin City Council.

We also acknowledge the kind support of INO Patrons Catherine and William Earley.
