About INO Studio

Irish National Opera is committed to the professional development and engagement of Irish artists. The INO Studio is an important element in our long term ambition to develop an infrastructure that will sustain creativity and excellence in opera in Ireland, securing the place of this most exciting art form in our cultural landscape' - Fergus Sheil, Artistic Director, INO

INO Studio is Irish National Opera’s artistic formation programme. The studio makes an annual selection of operatic talent in Ireland — singers, répétiteurs, conductors, directors, composers — and provides specially tailored training, professional mentoring and high-level professional engagements for a group of individuals whose success will be key to the future development of opera in Ireland. The inaugural INO Studio runs from September 2018 to June 2019.

Members of INO Studio will be involved in Irish National Opera’s productions, both main-scale and touring. They will sing on-stage in roles or in the chorus, understudy lead roles — enabling them to watch and emulate great artists at work — and, for non-singing members, they will join in the often pressured world of opera rehearsals as assistants to conductors, directors and music staff.

Studio members will also benefit from individual coaching, masterclasses and mentorship with leading Irish and international singers and musicians. They will benefit from specific attention to their performance and language skills, the details of stagecraft, and will be assisted in their personal musical development and given professional career guidance. Members will also benefit from Irish National Opera’s national and international contacts and INO Studio will develop and promote specially tailored events to help the members hone specific skills and showcase their work.
