World Opera Day 2020 celebrates the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth at a time when the healing power of music and the arts is more important than ever.

Our partners at Operavision will lead the celebration with 3 contrasting versions of Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio, on the 23 and 24 October culminating in a World Opera Day Celebration Concert, bringing together 6 continents in 4 acts and time zones:

Act I 15:00 CET Tokyo time

Act II 15:00 Moscow time

Act III 15:00 London time

Act IV 15:00 New York time

In addition to this, opera companies all over the world will share their own live or online events and performances in celebration of opera.

Unfortunately, own celebration for World Opera Day, the Mezzo Masterpieces concert featuring Paula Murrihy on 24 October, has had to be re-scheduled to 10 December. However, we wish all our colleagues across the world, the very best as we come together to celebrate the importance of opera for our society.

World Opera Day was initiated with joint forces of Ópera Latinoamérica, OPERA America and Opera Europa
