Following Government advice regarding indoor mass gatherings of more than 100 people, issued today by An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre will be closed until 29 March and all performances of Irish National Opera’s Carmen are cancelled. Ticketholders are entitled to a refund. This will be processed by Ticketmaster for further information please see bordgaisenergytheatre.ie

Irish National Opera Artistic Director Fergus Sheil commented “This is an unprecedented situation and we are deeply sorry to have to cancel all performances of Carmen, but of course we must put the wellbeing of our artists, workers and audience first. After weeks of remarkable rehearsals, it is very disappointing that this production cannot now be performed for the public. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the principal singers, chorus, dancers, orchestra, the creative team and the technical team for their outstanding work on this production. We know our audience will also be disappointed and ask for their understanding. We will endeavour to re-assemble our team and perform it for the public at the first possible opportunity.”
