Irish National Opera is working with communities in Inis Meáin, Tallaght and Offaly/Westmeath to co-create a Virtual Reality Community Opera for presentation in 2022. This project aims to use new methods of co-creation and participatory art to involve communities in the creative process of opera and provoke an impact on the relationship between opera and digital technology.
This work is a part of TRACTION, a European project consisting of 9 international partners, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 initiative. This exciting project brings together experts from the arts, technology and academic sectors to research and develop new technologies and methodologies that engage local communities in opera. Out of the Ordinary is one of three pilot projects that will test these new processes.
