Biography

Russell Harcourt is gaining increasing international recognition on the operatic stage and concert platform throughout the UK and Australasia for a refined brilliance of vocal colour and the comic charm of his characterisations. He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music followed by post-graduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London and is an Associate of the Jette Parker Young Artists at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Career highlights include stepping in to sing the title-role in Handel’s Oreste (Royal Opera Jette Parker Young Artists at Wilton's Music Hall), Evanco in Handel’s Rodrigo (Göttingen Festival), Nerone in Handel’s Agrippina (Brisbane Baroque), Armindo in Handel’s Partenope (Opera Australia), Megabise in Hasse’s Artaserse, Andronicus in Vivaldi’s Bajazet and Corrado in Vivaldi’s Griselda (Pinchgut Opera, Sydney), Sesto in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto (Bury Court Opera), and Countertenor 1 in John Adams’s The Gospel According to the Other Mary (Theater Bonn, directed by Peter Sellars). His concert performances include repertoire from Bach to Schnittke.
