​Jorge Navarro Colorado

Biography

Jorge Navarro Colorado won an Audition Oracle Scholarship, a Gil Rodriguez Scholarship from Opéra de Baugé and the tenor prize at Beca Bach, Barcelona. He is a graduate of the opera course of the Guildhall School of Music in London, a Britten-Pears Alumnus and a Samling Artist. He made his debut at the 2017 Göttingen Festival as Berengario in Handel’s Lotario, recently returning as Giuliano in Handel’s Rodrigo. Other recent engagements include the title role in Carissimi’s Jonas for English Touring Opera, Damon in Handel’s Acis and Galatea at the London Handel Festival, Emilio in Handel’s Partenope for Iford Arts, Tempo in Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno at the Theater Aachen, Apollo in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo for Gothenburg Baroque, Ton Koopman’s reconstruction of Bach’s St Mark Passion with the BZM Ensemble, Barcelona, Grandes Mecenas (including music by Bach and Handel) with the Orquesta Barroca de Alicante, Britten’s St Nicolas with the Capilla de Música Santa María del Coro, San Sebastián, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with the Israel Chamber Orchestra, Handel’s Esther with the Irish Baroque Orchestra and Haydn’s Stabat Mater with the Polski Chór Kameralny. His broadcasts include In Tune for BBC Radio 3, and his recordings include Lotario and Rodrigo from the Göttingen Festival and German Cantatas with solo violin with Ensemble Diderot, which was nominated for a 2019 International Classical Music Award.
