Gavan Ring


Dr Gavan Ring studied at the Schola Cantorum at St Finian’s College, Mullingar, before reading education and music at Dublin City University, the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio in London.

Opera highlights include leading roles at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Wexford Festival Opera, Opera Holland Park, Opera Rara, Wide Open Opera and Opera Theatre Company. Concert highlights include performances with the London Symphony Orchestra under Simon Rattle at the BBC Proms and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment under Mark Elder.

Recent and upcoming work include main-stage tenor débuts as Frederic in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance at Cork Opera House, as Azim in Stanford’s The Veiled Prophet and Juan in Massenet’s Don Quichotte at Wexford Festival Opera plus concerts such as Stanford’s Requiem with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gerhard Markson and recitals for BBC Radio 3 and at Wigmore Hall with pianist Simon Lepper.
