Biography

Sinéad is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where she studied Drama and Theatre Studies. She received the Irish Times Irish Theatre Award for Best Lighting on three occasions between 2007 and 2010. Here recent lighting designs include Vivaldi’s Bajazet, Peter Maxwell Davies’s The Lighthouse and Brian Irvine and Netia Jones’s Least Like The Other (Irish National Opera), iGirl (Abbey Theatre), Mabel’s Magnificent Flying Machine and In Middletown (Gate Theatre). Other theatre, dance and opera credits include The Fall of the Second Republic (Abbey Theatre/Corn Exchange), The Patient Gloria (PanPan/Abbey Theatre), The Country Girls, Anna Karenina, Oedipus, By the Bog of Cats, Christ Deliver Us!, La Dispute, The Seafarer and Saved (Abbey Theatre), The Haircut (The Ark), Danse Morob (The Emergency Room), Rossini’s The Barber of Seville (Wide Open Opera), Verdi’s Rigoletto (Opera Theatre Company), The Seagull, A Girl is a Half-formed Thing and Happy Days (Corn Exchange), A Tender Thing (Siren Productions), Wrongheaded [original production], Body and Forgetting, Fast Portraits, 12 Minute Dances (Liz Roche Company), Don Carlos (Rough Magic) and Miss Julie (Landmark Productions). Sinéad is resident Lighting Designer at The Lir Academy where she leads the Lighting Design module on the Masters in Stage Design.
