Rachel Redmond trained at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She performs regularly with Les Arts Florissants and other leading European baroque ensembles. She recently made her débuts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Academy of Ancient Music, Tafelmusik, Britten Sinfonia, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Les Talens Lyriques, The English Concert, Netherlands Bach Society, Le Poème Harmonique and the Gulbenkian Orchestra. She performed Handel’s Messiah at the Salzburg Festival and Bach’s B minor Mass with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at the BBC Proms. She made her stage début at the Opéra-Comique in Lully’s Atys, followed by Campra’s Les fêtes vénitiennes in Paris, Toulouse and New York. Her other operatic roles include Susanna in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro with English Touring Opera, Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Arethuse in Charpentier’s Actéon with Les Arts Florissants, Purcell’s Fairy Queen at Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing, Second Woman in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at Aix-en-Provence Festival, Fortuna in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea at Opéra du Rhin, and Loena in Offenbach’s La belle Hélène at the Théâtre du Châtelet. This season’s highlights include Dorinda in Handel’s Orlando with the Academy of Ancient Music, Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galatea and Venus in Blow’s Venus and Adonis with Ensemble Masques, Handel’s Messiah with the Dunedin Consort, Bach Cantatas with Stradivaria, Orchestre Baroque de Nantes, and a program of Blow and Purcell with Le Caravansérail.
