Luis Magallanes

Biography

Venezuelan tenor known for his versatility and exquisite interpretations. Magallanes began his studies at the Simon Bolivar music conservatory, with Maestra Margot Pares Renya in 2010. The following year, he became part of the vocal academy at the Simon Bolivar Musical foundation.

In 2013, he was accepted to the vocal technic and interpretation at the Camerata de Caracas with Maestra Isabel Palacios. He also joined Camerata Renacentista at the same institution. He debuted in her first leading role in the Baroque Opera Festival with the Venezuelan soprano Mariana Ortiz in the opera II Filosofo di Campagna by Baldassare Galuppi at the National Theatre of Caracas under the scenic and musical direction of Maestra Palacios.

In 2018 started in the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin in the recital artist Diploma program, with Owen Gilhooly then in December during the same year was part of Aida by Giuseppe Verdi as a member of the chorus in the Irish National Opera production in the Board Gais Theatre Energy.

In January 2019 got into the semi-final in the Veronica Dunne International singing competition, afterwards in March as member of the chorus was part of Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini with INO, perfoming in Dublin and Cork Opera house.

Luis has received master classes and coaching from Bernhard Kerres (Austria), Susanna Frangi (Argentina), and Gerald Wirth (Austria), Brenda Hurley (Ireland), Ann Murray (Ireland),Iain Burnside (Scotland) and Sam McElroy (Ireland). His solo repertoire includes works byHandel, Mozart, Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti.

Luis will be joining the International Opera Studio in Zürich in September for the season 2020-2021.
